Fall 2017 Classes

Pre-Dance Combo:  A half-hour introduction to what dance class is all about.  We will learn about rhythm and movement in ballet, jazz, and tap through fun and entertaining song and dance.  Perfect for the very young dancer who is not quite ready to be independent from mom and dad.

Tots 1 Combo:  A 45-minute introduction to all the styles we offer as our dancers grow up.  Students will be introduced to basic technique and terminology in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and acrobatics through song and movement.  We also incorporate the nationally renowned Twirl Book program for the young dancer, which adds excitement to each class with fun and festive activities, parties, and a super special graduation at the end of the year.  Learn more about the Twirl program at www.confettionthedancefloor.com.

Tots 2 Combo:  An hour-long class in which we build on the basic foundations learned in Tots 1 and expand the dancers’ knowledge base.  Students will learn technique and terminology in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and acrobatics and begin to build good dance habits.  We also incorporate the nationally renowned Twirl Book program for the medium dancer, which adds excitement to each class with fun and festive activities, parties, and a super special graduation at the end of the year.  Learn more about the Twirl program at www.confettionthedancefloor.com.

Boys Combo:  An introductory class for young boys comparable to the Tots 1 & 2 classes for girls.  Boys & girls learn differently and have different interests and energy levels.  This class is catered specifically to the young male dancer, incorporating areas of interest for them into learning basic ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and acrobatic technique and terminology.

Boys Tap & Jazz:  A class building on the basics learned in the Boys Combo class, and enhancing the male dancer’s technique and ability.  The class time will be divided equally between tap and jazz exercises, progressions, and combinations.

Acrobatics:  A class building strength and flexibility through exercises and drills, focusing on safety and proper technique in back work and tumbling tricks.  Students will work at their own pace and ability, advancing as milestones are safely reached.

Ballet:  A class focusing on classical ballet techniques and principles.  Students will develop a rudimentary working knowledge of ballet terminology through barre and floor work.  Ballet is widely referred to as the foundation of all dance, and this class will set the ground work for a successful future in dance.

Ballet & Lyrical:  A class expanding on basic ballet knowledge and developing more advanced ability at higher levels.  Pointe work is introduced at the 5th grade level.  At the lower levels, the basics of lyrical dance will also be introduced, and will continue to grow as the dancer advances.

Hip Hop:  A fun, face-paced style of dance incorporating street, pop, and video dancing to modern music.  Students will learn a combination of popular steps, terminology, and hip hop history.  If you are interested in dancing and looking for a relaxed and entertaining class, hip hop is the class to try!  All experience levels and abilities welcome at all grade levels.

Jazz:  A technique-based form of dance incorporating turns, leaps, and other dance movement to modern, fast-paced music.  Class time consists of warm-up, progressions, and center floor work.

Tap:  A rhythmic form of dance utilizing timing and coordination to create sound and movement.  A variety of styles are covered, from classic Broadway style to modern street tap.
